Who we are and what we do

Established in 1992, Pegasus Health is a not-for-profit organisation that supports 95 Practices within the Christchurch/Canterbury area in delivering quality care to over 366,000 patients.

Much of the organisation’s work is funded by the government via Primary Health Organisations (PHOs).

Pegasus Health practices, along with those from a number of other GP groups from around Christchurch and Selwyn, are part of Partnership Health Canterbury PHO.

Pegasus Health Charitable is governed by a board made up of six practicing family doctors, a nurse director and an independent director.

The Pegasus family includes 287 member GPs, 301 practice nurses, and over 400 support staff.

Our health services, patent services and business services all share the same aim: supporting our practice teams in delivering the highest quality care possible to their patients.

Although the role of Pegasus Health Charitable has changed over the years - to meet the needs of a changing health environment - our core focus remains the same: we continue to do all we can to ensure that the people of Christchurch receive the highest quality general practices services possible – both now and in the future.

Pegasus Health Employment was set up by Pegasus Health to meet the growing demand from overseas-trained GPs from information about working in Christchurch and to ensure continuity of quality care for our patients.
